What is an “Honor Platoon”?

The act of becoming a United States Marine is a
challenge. It requires individual determination and
excellence while contributing to an effective team.
No one has it easy or escapes notice.

In the process of earning the title of Marine,
new recruits are organized into units called
platoons, and those platoons compete against each
other. The competitions are across many categories
over a span of months. The competitions are
designed to find the smartest, fastest, most skilled
team of people. The platoon that wins overall is the
Honor Platoon.

Every competitor achieves something most
people do not by becoming a Marine; every team
goes on to serve with pride and distinction; but only
one team becomes the Honor Platoon.
